Does it seem like you're stuck in the bargaining stage of food grief? Don't worry, you're not alone.
This is the stage where you try to put off the inevitable. Permanently changing your eating habits.
This stage can be a real challenge, but there are ways to get through it. Think of it as a game of tug-of-war between your angel and devil!
After all, that's why we start dieting in the first place. We say we want to lose weight, but we also want wine and ice cream.
This stage can be a slippery slope. Picture this: On one end of the rope, you have your angel, who is determined to help you make healthy choices and stay on track with your eating habits. On the other end of the rope, you have your devil, who is tempting you with all of your favorite foods and encouraging you to give in to your cravings.
Before you know it, you've bargained your way back to your starting weight or more.
Before you let that happen, decide which side you want to pull towards. Will you give in to the devil and indulge in those unhealthy treats? Or will you listen to your angel and make healthier choices? It doesn't have to be one or the other.
What to do?
*Plan foods you DO want to eat. Allow some foods that you eat only because they taste good.
*Make healthier choices when you can.
*Take away the good and bad food labels.
*Stop telling yourself YOU are bad for eating unhealthy food sometimes.
*Notice how you feel after eating less healthy foods compared to healthier foods and decide if you want to eat them as often.
*Don't beat yourself up if you eat more than you planned. It happens.
*If you know you're going to eat a certain food no matter what, eat it first. You get to choose!
*If you want something that isn't on your plan for that day, plan it for the next day.
